THE Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) yesterday warned professionals against individuals offering — but not authorized — to provide continuing professional development (CPD).
The CPD is a mandatory requirement for the renewal of Professional Identification Card of all registered and licensed professionals under the regulation of the PRC.
This means that each profession requires compliance with a specific number of CPD credit units for the renewal of their cards.
“PRC warns the public against dealing with individuals or entities that falsify CPD accreditation to charge unsuspecting professionals for programs and courses that are non-accredited and non-existent,” said the PRC.
The agency said the scheme generally involves asking for registration fees through online payment channels. But the promised learning activity either is not accredited or never commences at all.
“Beware of this fraudulent activity,” said the PRC.
The agency advised all professionals to take precautionary measures in identifying the CPD providers by verifying their legitimacy through the link: https://cpdas.prc.gov.ph/public/index.aspx
Those who encounter bogus providers are urged to report to the Continuing Professional Development Division (CPDD) at the 3rd Floor, Secretariat Building, PICC, Pasay City; or by email at cpdd@prc.gov.ph; or through landline no. 8810-8415.
