FOUR alleged drug pushers were arrested in buy-bust operations in Taguig City early morning yesterday and in Mandaluyong last Monday night which led to the seizure of P12.3 million worth of suspected shabu.
Southern Police District Director Brig. General Bernard Yang said the operation conducted at around 12:40 a.m. in the parking lot of a mall in Taguig led to the arrest of alias Alvin, 27, and alias Miracle, a minor.
Seized from them were around 600 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P4.8 million, and the buy-bust money.
Operatives also recovered a caliber 9mm pistol with bullets and a cellular phone from alias Alvin.
Police also seized P7.5 million worth of suspected dangerous drugs and arrested two persons in a buy-bust operation in Mandaluyong City.
Col. Villamor Tuliao, Eastern police district (EPD) officer-in-charge, identified the suspects as John Fitz Jerard Salazar and Alison Mae Reyes, residents of the city.
Seized from them were 11 canisters/cans containing more or less five kilos of suspected kush, high-grade marijuana, and the P50,000 buy-bust money.
The Taguig operation was carried out by operatives of the SPD District Drug Enforcement Unit, District Intelligence Division, District Mobile Force Battalion, Taguig police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency based on information regarding the alleged illegal drug activity of the suspects.
Yang said follow-up operations are still being conducted to identify and arrest their cohorts.
“The SPD will continue to intensify its campaign against illegal drugs, focusing on drug peddlers who serve as the conduit of illegal drugs to the public,” Yang said in a brief statement.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied against the suspects before the local prosecutor’s office.
“By working side by side, we have been able to disrupt the distribution of dangerous drugs in our community, making it a safer place for everyone to live, work and do business,” Tuliao said.
Tuliao added that an investigation is still ongoing to determine the suspects’ other accomplices.
