NEWLY designated Prosecutor General Richard Anthony Fadullon yesterday said that under his watch, the National Prosecution Service will perform its duties with utmost professionalism and will always uphold the rule of law.

Fadullon made the promise in a brief message after he was formally appointed to the post.

“I ask for your prayers as I continue on this journey to improve the prosecution service and ensure that justice is administered promptly,” Fadullon said.

Malacanang appointed Fadullon as the new Prosecutor General last October 30, replacing Benedicto Malcontento who resigned last month after serving for five years.

As Prosecutor General, Fadullon will be responsible for overseeing all prosecutors in the country, similar to the work of the Court Administrator, which is managing the work of judiciary personnel.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla directed Fadullon to uphold the rule of law “with tenacious resolve and ensure justice for all.”

“I am extremely confident in your skill, experience and resolve that you are the perfect fit for the title of Prosecutor General capable of upholding the rule of law with fearlessness and utmost integrity,” Remulla added.

Fadullon brings with him more than 30 years of experience working in the country’s justice system, first as a former clerk at a Quezon City Regional Trial Court before becoming a state prosecutor in 1994.

Before being named as NPS chief, Fadullon served as a senior deputy state prosecutor and as acting Prosecutor General after Malcontento was placed on “floating status” by Remulla.
