Senior citizens and people with disabilities had the ultimate Valentine’s Day treat as they enjoyed a free meal from Chooks! at Robinsons Place Lipa on February 14.
Chooks-to-Go’s first dine-in restaurant treated them with free quarter-chicken meals with unlimited soup and rice as a way to honor them.
During the promo event, regular customers of Chooks! also received special giveaways, including the coveted Chooks-to-Go shirts.
Chooks! is the dine-in restaurant of the country’s top chicken rotisserie Chooks-to-Go. More branches are opening this year.
Digital transformation
The Gokongwei Group has tapped Microsoft as part of its digital transformation.

Infosys, a global leader in next-generation digital services and consulting, was crucial in both formulating and executing the Gokongwei Group’s transformation strategy. This involved migrating various data centers across multiple business units into a single unified Microsoft Azure-based platform and upgrading the group’s SAP ERP system to SAP S/4 HANA.
PUMA online store to PH market
Global Sports Brand PUMA has expanded its presence in South East Asia and opened its online store PUMA.com for customers in the Philippines.
By opening PUMA.com in the Philippines, the sports company offers all of its products to online shopping fans in the Southeast Asian market.
“eCommerce is simply the easiest way to connect with PUMA fans all around the world… We look forward to introducing more exciting concepts and offerings in the Philippines market,” says Sanjay Roy, general manager of PUMA SEA.
The products are locally picked, packed and shipped directly to customers. Another bonus is that the logistics in this area will open in Spring 2022 and will create hundreds of direct and indirect employments. This artwork submitted by winner, William Pototoy, takes inspirations from LaMelo’s “Not from Here” concept.

COVID-19 aid
PLDT Inc. and wireless unit Smart Communications Inc. together with the PLDT-Smart Foundation (PSF) have extended relief aid to eight communities across Batangas, Cavite, and Laguna.
These areas logged 140,000 COVID infections since the global health crisis began in March 2020
The PLDT group turned over around 800 food packs to the local governments of Lipa City and Sto. Tomas in Batangas; Bacoor, Dasmariñas and Imus in Cavite; Calamba and Santa Rosa in Laguna; and Lucena City in Quezon province.
PLDT, Smart and PSF have been assisting communities recover from the disruptions caused by COVID-19. PLDT and Smart aim to create a #SafeandSmart Philippines by championing initiatives that promote a culture of preparedness, provide immediate response through network resilience, continuous availability of communication services, and relief assistance to communities affected by disasters, and aid in recovery.
Globe highlights need for resiliency
The Liveable Cities Lab recently held a webinar titled “Road to Resilience: Preparing Our Communities for Natural Disasters,” where humanitarian and utility experts addressed short-term and long-term measures for building basic service resilience in badly-hit areas.
Rofil Sheldon Magto, Globe Telecom communications manager for Visayas and Mindanao, said the company is pursuing a three-pronged strategy: continuous network investment in more resilient infrastructure to ensure seamless connectivity, digital transformation, and stakeholder engagement.

Shopee upskills coders
Shopee has launched Shopee Code League (SCL), an online training that helps upskill coders enhance their programming abilities.
Recent sessions organized by Shopee were attended by over 17,000 participants and 300 partners from eight locations across the region in 2021.
SCL 2022 is open to all interested individuals and top performers can win cash prizes amounting to SGD 25,000 (more than P950,000). Participants also stand a chance to join Shopee to grow their careers in the tech landscape.
SCL will focus on offering the following topics: Python Programming, C++, Go, Data Structures and Algorithms, and Dynamic Programming.
