THE Quezon City Government has launched the application process for the third cohort of its Startup QC Program, specifically targeting the Professional Category. This initiative aims to foster early-stage startups in the city, providing them with resources and mentorship to accelerate their growth and contribute to local economic development.
Selected startups will participate in a comprehensive Learning, Engagement, and Development (LEAD) program spanning three to four months. This program will expose them to industry experts, mentors, and accelerators, helping them refine their products and services for market readiness. The culmination of the program is a Demo Day, where participants pitch their ideas to stakeholders for a chance to receive equity-free financial grants of up to P1 million.
This effort aligns with Mayor Joy Belmonte’s vision to position Quezon City as a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship in the Philippines. The program, a collaboration between government and non-government organizations, seeks to create jobs and drive economic growth through innovative startups.
Backed by institutions like the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), several universities, and startup accelerators, the StartUp QC Program has garnered significant support within the entrepreneurial community.
Applications for the Professional Category are open until June 27, 2024. To be eligible, startups must have at least one member who is a Quezon City resident and 21 years of age or older. Additionally, they must possess a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that doesn’t duplicate existing government programs and submit a video pitch and business plan.
Interested startups can register and submit their applications through the QC E-services portal at qceservices.quezoncity.gov.ph.
