THE UAAP has renewed its partnership with multi-media platform giant Cignal, aiming to reach more fans with its action-packed collegiate sports events in the next five years, starting in the 2026-27 season.
League executive director Atty. Rebo Saguisag and MediaQuest and Cignal TV president and CEO Jane J. Basas led the partnership renewal contract yesterday together with UAAP Season 88 president Fr. Rodel Cansancio and Cignal TV first vice president and head of channels and content Sienna G. Olaso.
Also in attendance in the event at the Buenaventura Garcia Paredes O.P. Thomasian Alumni Center at the University of Santo Tomas were UAAP Season 88 chairman Rev. Fr. Richard Ang O.P., Cignal TV CFO John Andal, and Cignal TV first vice president and CRO Gerard Milan.
With the extended alliance, the league’s Season 89 up to the 93rd edition or from 2026 to 2030, is assured to be broadcasted by Cignal.
“First of all, allow me to thank the UAAP leadership for the trust that we have placed on Cignal for the past five years as the official broadcast partner of the UAAP. We have done many things together over the past five years from expanding our coverage of the games, covering not just senior collegiate events but also junior high school events, to making sure we deliver the widest reach that we can for the games,” Basas said. “Clearly together we have achieved much but there is a lot more to do. So, thank you for the next five years of broadcast partnership. We are excited to do more with you and to build more with you for the UAAP Season 89 to 93.
“We in Cignal are proud to deliver the stories of our young students, student-athletes to every Filipino, not just here in the Philippines but globally. And we have the UAAP to thank for this opportunity to do so.”
