CHERY Tiggo has brought back Aaron Velez as its coach ahead of the PVL All-Filipino Conference set to start next month.
The Crossovers announced last Monday night the return of Velez, who called the shots for the team in the PVL Open Conference last year.
He was replaced by Clarence Esteban in the Invitational and Reinforced conferences and served as Crossovers team manager.
“The experienced coach is returning to take the wheel and lead the Chery Tiggo back to the top this #PVL2023 All-Filipino Conference,” the team posted on its social media pages.
In 2021 when PVL turned pro, Velez steered Chery Tiggo to the Open Conference crown.
The Crossovers finished eighth in the Open Conference and then wound up last in the Invitational Conference but bounced back in the Reinforced as fourth placers.
Chery Tiggo recently lost ace spiker Dindin Santiago-Manabat but signed three players before the All-Filipino Conference begins on Feb. 4.
The Crossovers bolstered their line-up by adding open spiker Pauline Gaston, middle blocker Seth Rodriguez and libero Bingle Landicho to join mainstays Mylene Paat, EJ Laure, Jasmine Nabor, and Alina Bicar.
The team also extended the pacts of open hitter Shaya Adorador, middle blockers Cza Carandang and Roselle Baliton and libero Ria Duremdes.
