NATIONAL University whipped a game but outclassed Far Eastern University 25-13, 27-25, 25-15 last night in their knockout Final Four duel to advance to the finals of the 86th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
For the third straight season, Mhicaela Belen and the Lady Bulldogs marched to the Big Dance opposite second seed University of Santo Tomas.
Belen, a former MVP, dropped 21 points and 14 digs to lead NU back to the finals, while Sheena Toring, who celebrated her 23rd birthday yesterday, delivered 13 markers, six from kill blocks.
Opposite spiker Alyssa Solomon and skipper Erin Pangilinan combined for 18 points for the redemption-seeking Lady Bulldogs.
Libero Shaira Jardio had 13 excellent receptions and dug 11 digs for NU in the hour and 38-minute affair witnessed by a crowd of 13,054 fans.
The No. 1 Sampaloc based-belles recovered from their loss over the weekend to the fourth-ranked Lady Tamaraws.
