TOP favorite Jaguar exacted sweet revenge over first leg tormentor La Trouppei by winning the P3.5-million second Leg of the 2023 Philracom Triple Crown Series at the Metro Manila Turf Club in Batangas.
Racing third and within striking distance of the speed duel between Going East and Easy Way in the first three quarters, the chestnut colt remained patient through the masterful handling of jockey Jeffril Zarate.
Jaguar picked up the pace in the last 600 meters of the 1,800-meter race, leaving the field huffing and puffing to win by about four lengths.
The Dante Salazar-trained galloper crossed the wire in 1:51.8 and won the P2.1 million top prize.
La Trouppei settled for second and P700,000, Secretary finished third for P350,000 and Early Boating came in fourth, good for P175,000.
“Congratulations to the winners and their connections in our three exciting events lined up this weekend. And thank you to the bayang karerista who braved the rains to witness the events,” Philracom chief Reli de Leon said.
