Aljur Abrenica is eager to spend time with sons Alas and Axl this coming June 18, Father’s Day.
The father of two and “The Revelation” lead star has been busy with work lately and he is looking forward to indulging his kids on their current interests when they get together.
“Ang revelation sa akin is sobrang bilis tumakbo ng panahon,” he said at a Zoom interview last Monday, “May times kasi medyo napapahaba panahon na hindi ko sila kasama, hindi siya maganda. ‘Yung mga times na nakakasama ko mga anak ko, hindi mo siya pagsisisihan, so ang revelation sa akin sa pagiging ama, sa mga lalaki ‘yung mga pressure to provide for the family, it’s a burden na hindi namawawala sa lalaki ‘yun, but still you manage your time to spend quality time with your kids.”
Right now, his kids with actress Kylie Padilla are into motocross and singing. Showbiz, he said, has not entered their young minds.
“Di ko iniisip ‘yung maging open sa kanila sa showbiz. Ang iniisip ko ay how to spend my time with them. I watch them. Ano bang hilig ng mga anak ko? For example, si Alas laging mine message motocross, gusto nya mag motor so pinagbibigyan ko, nag mo motor kami,” he revealed.
“‘Yung isa, gusto nya mag dagat lagi. Kumakanta na ‘yung isa, three years old pa lang siya. So sinusuportahan ko sila. pag kasama ko sila, nag mu-music kami, nag dru drums ako, kumakanta sya. As much as possible kung ano ang gusto ng mga bata, ‘yun ang priority ko. Motorcross, dagat, ‘yun ang iniisip ko.”
Aljur said he has promised himself that he will always find time for his kids, even if he is in the middle of showbiz commitments. Currently, he is busy promoting “The Revelation” and finishing another movie. “The Revelation” is his second film with Ana Jalandoni and his first with his brother Vin Abrenica and internet star Jelai Andres.
In the psychological thriller, he plays Lance, who has multiple personality disorder.
“Pinaghandaan ko siya. Kung paano ko pinaghihiwa-hiwalay [ang mga personalities] depends on the scene and the characters I’m working with, iba-iba ko sila harapin bawat aktor,” he said.
Did he have a hard time leaving his characters on the set?
“Nahuhuli ko minsan sarili ko ganyan. Pero before the project, corny kasi to, sinusulat ko muna ang gusto ko gawin. Personal. After doing that project, lahat nung list gagawin ko to get back kasi lahat kami yan ang pinagdadaanan after portraying a character. Nauuwi so tinatanggal ko siya,” he explained.
Aljur said he enjoyed working with his co-stars Ana, Jelai and director RayAn Dulay. He is especially grateful to have shared the screen with his brother Vin.
“Vin is a revelation here kasi ibang iba na siya,” remarked Aljur, “Proud ako sa kanya at may mga inputs pa sya sa akin when doing scenes, sa pag build ng character ko. So sya ang naging mas stage brother sa mga character ko.”
“The Revelation” is written by Joyzell Dulay, directed by RayAn Dulay and produced Hand Held Entertainment Production and House-of-Prime Films. It opens in theaters on June 21.
