‘Her “Silip sa Apoy” remains in the list of top ten movies for several months now.’
WE now have an entire crop of new stars who have yet to be seen on the big screen. They may be called Streaming Stars as their movies since the pandemic started are shown on streaming channels like Vivamax.

Considered to be the queen is Angeli Khang. Her “Silip sa Apoy” remains in the list of top ten movies for several months now.
“Silip sa Apoy” was shown in January yet and now, after five months, the ardent fans of Angeli can see her again in “Pusoy,” a sexy action-drama that starts streaming on May 27.
“Ako ‘yung bagong babae ni Baron Geisler, isang gambling lord,” she says. “Mai-insecure ‘yung dati niyang lover, si Janelle Tee. Tapos, magugustuhan ako ng bodyguard ni Baron na si Vince Rillon, and I will reciprocate, resulting in a big conflict sa story. This is written and directed by an Italian-American filmmaker, Phil Giordano.”
Angeli has a Pinay mom and a Korean dad. She revealed then she’s a battered child because her dad used to physically hurt her. In the press con of “Pusoy,” she said her mom has actually filed a formal case of physical abuse against her dad, who is a successful businessman in Saipan.
“If ever he’d set foot in the Philippines, he will be arrested,” she says. “Noong nasa grade school, pumapasok ako sa school na black and blue. May death wish ako dahil sa pananakit sa akin. When people ask me about him, nagkakaroon ako ng anxiety attack so I was brought to a psychiatrist to sort out my feelings and I realized it’s not normal for a girl to fantasize about dying.”

Sanya Lopez is on a winning streak. Her GMA-7 drama series, “First Lady,” is the number one teleserye today on primetime. When she and her co-stars in the show became guests last Wednesday in “Family Feud,” they competed with a team of gay comedians and they’re the lucky ones who won the jackpot prize of P200,000!
“Ang suwerte nga namin kasi sa third round, naungusan na kami ng mga kalaban namin,” she says. “Buti na lang at nakabawi pa kami sa fourth round. So thanks sa mga co-stars ko sa ‘First Lady’ kasi ang gagaling nila.”
Now, in “First Lady,” Sanya as Melody Reyes-Acosta is all set to run for president after her husband, Gabby Concepcion as Pres. Glenn Acosta, was injured in an assassination attempt on his life. She was chosen by their allies to run in the next election while Gabby is still indisposed.
“Noong una, medyo hesitant ako as Melody but in our last episode, I already accepted their challenge and declared my candidacy for the highest post in the land. The reaction from the public is very positive.”
But of course, their political foes will not take this sitting down, led by Isabel Rivas as another former first lady, Allegra, who earlier already discouraged Melody (Sanya) from running as president. Now, she and her allies are doing all their best for her to be discredited in the eyes of the public, reminding all of them that she used to be a lowly “yaya” in the palace.

Oliver Aquino started as a child actor at ABS-CBN and was part of a boy group called Anime. He has since done several movies with director Jay Altarejos like “Kasal,” “Tale of the Lost Boys,” “TPO Miguel,” “Gino to Marie,” “Love and Pain in Between Refrains,” “Walang Kasarian ang Digmang Bayan” and now, they’re together again in Vivamax’ Boys’ Love (BL) movie, “Memories of a Love Story.”
So how does it feel working with Direk Jay again?
“I have learned so much from him, so kapag siya ang tumawag, okay ako agad,” says Oliver. “I really trust him and I know hindi niya ako ipapahamak as I am in good hands.”
In “Memories of a Love Story,” he plays a man who returns home to their province in Bicol to spread the ashes of his late mom in their hometown. There, he meets a former love, played by Migz Almendras, and their feelings for each other are rekindled.
As for Migz, he’s glad to work again with Oliver. “Nagkasama na kami before in ‘Walang Kasarian ang Digmang Bayan’,” he says. “Kaso, hindi ako napasama sa final print kasi na-edit out ‘yung scenes ko dahil nawala ‘yung isang character. When I learned I will work with Oliver again, okay lang sa akin as I already feel comfortable with him.”
Their characters in “Memories of a Love Story” come from different social classes as he is rich and Oliver is the son of their former housemaid. Has he experienced something like this in real life?
“Yes, may girl na gusto ako before, but she’s the valedictorian in our class. May kaya sila, e ni wala akong sasakyan, so ni hindi ko siya maihahatid pauwi sa kanila. I consider her the one who got away from me.”
