REP. Brian Yamsuan (PL, Bicol Saro) is the leading choice of voters to represent Parañaque City’s second district in the next Congress, according to the results of a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.

The commissioned survey, conducted between April 10 to 14, shows Yamsuan enjoying an overwhelming lead of about 50,000 votes over incumbent Rep. Gustavo Tambunting who got the support of 31 percent of the respondents as opposed to Yamsuan’s 54 percent.

The survey, conducted through face-to-face interviews, had 600 respondents aged 18 years old and older who are all residents and registered voters of Paranaque’s second district.

SWS said Yamsuan’s 23 percent lead is equivalent to about 50,000 votes.

The survey showed that Yamsuan, an independent, is the choice of 52 percent of voters in Barangay BF Homes; by 47 percent of voters in San Antonio; and by 68 percent in Marcelo Green.

Yamsuan, a former interior assistant secretary, is also leading in Sun Valley with the support of 58 percent of respondents and a 45 percent voter preference share in Don Bosco.

The party-list congressman got 69 percent of the votes in Merville; 53 percent in Moonwalk; and 57 percent in San Martin de Porres.

Surveys show that Yamsuan was able to steadily improve his voters’ preference share over a seven-month period.

From September 2024 before the filing of the certificates of candidacy for the midterm elections, when he only received a 38 percent of the voters’ preference share, the figure increased to 51 percent in November 2024 and to 54 percent in April 2025.

In contrast, Tambunting’s voter preference share fell from 44 percent in September 2024 to 38 percent in November 2024 and 31 percent last month.

In Davao City, mayoralty candidate Karlo Nograles, during his miting de avance on Saturday night, expressed gratitude to all his supporters as he urged them to continue supporting him during today’s elections.

“Thank you to all of the leaders and my supporters form the first, second and third districts of Davao City,” he said in a post on his Facebook page.

He also asked for support for his team which included Bernie Al-ag for vice mayor of Davao City, Migs Nograles for congressman of the 1st district of Davao, Javi Garcia – Campos for congressman of the 2st district of Davao and Nonoy Al-Ag for congressman of the 3rd districts of Davao.

Several barangay leaders who want some “real change” in Davao City have also vowed to continue to support Nograles in the elections.

The barangay leaders, in statements of support, said the city stands to benefit from a fresh and more responsive brand of leadership and from a mayor who would bring city hall closer to the people and deliver on urgent needs like jobs, food security, and reliable public services.

Among who expressed their support are Barangay Captains Loreto Nicolas of Barangay 19B and Lilibeth Al-ag of Barangay Toril Proper, who said they want a mayor who not only listens but also acts fast and understands the urgency of the problems of his constituents. – With Jocelyn Montemayor
