THE Department of Education (DepEd) yesterday expressed its gratitude and appreciation for President Marcos Jr. over the directive he issued to provide the P20,000 Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) for public school teachers and non-teaching personnel.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara said the increase in SRI from P18,000 to P20,000 will benefit an estimated 1,011,800 DepEd personnel.

“We thank President Marcos Jr. for his unparalleled dedication to uplifting the welfare of our teachers and personnel. His genuine concern for education and his heart for our teacher has once again prioritized the needs of those shaping the future of our nation,” Sec. Angara said.

Angara said he would work closely with Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah Pangandaman to ensure the swift and successful implementation of the increased SRI while adhering to fiscal policies.

Pangandaman said the DBM will look into the necessary funding mechanisms to finalize the implementation process and release of funds for the SRI. The SRI is an annual financial incentive given to government employees to acknowledge their commitment and dedication to providing quality and responsive public service.
