TWO executives of a garments firm were arrested last Tuesday afternoon for the alleged production of counterfeit undergarments with the Personal Collections brand.
Operatives of the Northern Police District’s (NPD) special operations unit (DSOU) arrested the suspects at around 1 p.m. at Victoneta Ave. in Barangay Potrero, Malabon City.
They were nabbed by virtue of a search warrant issued by a Malabon City court for violation of Republic Act 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines, the NPD said.
The NPD did not identify the suspects who were described as females aged 62 and 49, supervisor and owner, respectively, of 3m Garments.
The owner of the firm, described only as a Chinese who is also the subject of the search warrant, is at large.
Seized during the operation were “voluminous stocks” of “Alfa 1 Brief,” “Amazing Panty” and “Amazing Bra,” Personal Collections labels, receipts, and transaction documents.
Also seized were 32 sewing machines, four cutting machines, and two heat press machines.
“These items are suspected to be part of an illegal operation involving the manufacture of counterfeit products,” the NPD said in a statement.
The suspects were first brought to the Ospital ng Malabon for medical and physical examination, after which they were sent to the DSOU office “for further documentation and filing of appropriate charges” before the city’s prosecutor’s office, the NPD said.
NPD director Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan commended the personnel who conducted the successful operation.
