THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is set to provide much-needed financial aid to overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) falling victim to balikbayan box scams.
Based on Department Order No. 01-2025, the DMW said qualified OFWs who were victimized by balikbayan box scams will be provided a one-time financial aid via the Agarang Kalinga at Saklolo para sa mga OFWs na Nangangailangan (AKSYON) Fund.
“The assistance shall be in the form of financial assistance granted to OFWs, who are victims of the balikbayan box scam,” said the DMW.
“The qualified recipient shall receive a one-time financial aid of P30,000 upon submission of complete and compliant documentary requirements,” it added.
The Department said the move was prompted by the significant number of reports of OFWs falling victim to balikbayan box scams, including the loss of, abandonment, or extraordinary delay in the delivery of their balikbayan boxes.
