THE Pasig government announced that about 100 Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-profiled child laborers were given small gifts in celebration of Pasig City Day.
Vice mayor Dodot Jaworski and members of the 12th City Council led the Pasig Day Against Child Labor: Project Angel Tree program at the Doña Juana covered court at C. Raymundo Ave., Barangay Rosario, Pasig City.
Jaworski reminded the children that hard work is needed not only to survive, but they must study hard so that they can have a bright future.
He also reminded parents and guardians of the children not to deprive them of their right to education.
After the messages, the small gifts were distributed to the children-beneficiaries of the program. The gifts included groceries, toys, food, school supplies, and basic mental health check-up vouchers.
Aside from children, their parents and guardians were also given dishwashing livelihood starter kits from the Pasig City Tripartite Industrial Peace Council and other labor sector partners in Pasig City.
Project Angel Tree is one of the major components of DOLE’s Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program.
