FORMER Manila Vice Mayor Danilo “Danny” Lacuna passed yesterday, according to his daughter Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna Pangan.
He was 85.
In a Facebook post, Mayor Lacuna declined to disclose the cause of death but said her father died surrounded by family members.
“A man of great service and compassion, Danny touched many, creating a life which spans further than just his years and into the hearts of us all where he will remain forever,” the mayor said.
She said the family will announce the details of the wake and funeral arrangements later.
The elder Lacuna served as vice mayor of Manila from 1970 to 1971, 1988 to 1992, and from 1998 to 2007. He also served as city councilor from 1967 to 1975.
Lacuna also founded the local political party Asenso Manileño in 2005, which paved the way for the rise of his daughter and former mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso in the 2019 elections.
He also run for the mayoralty post of Manila twice but lost and as representative of the city’s sixth district in 2010.
