A POLICE lieutenant colonel was found dead inside his condominium unit in Biñan City in Laguna yesterday morning.
The fatality was identified as Lt. Col. Victor Ben Aclan, former chief of police of San Pedro City in Laguna.
Police said Aclan had a gunshot wound when found by his security detail, Corporal Japer Aaron Mercado, inside his room at the Holland Park Condominium in Barangay San Francisco in Biñan City at around 8:30 a.m.
Mercado went to check Aclan inside the latter’s room after hearing a gun shot and found the officer already dead.
Investigators are still conducting further investigation on the case.
The 37-year-old Aclan and four other personnel of the Biñan City police station were awarded the Medalya ng Kadakilaan in September last year in connection with the arrest of two Nigerians and their Filipino cohorts for involvement in a bank fraud.
Aclan relinquished command of the Biñan City police station to Lt. Col. Rolly Liegen last January. — Victor Reyes
