GOVERNMENT auditors have flagged the provincial government of Mountain Province in connection with the procurement of 457 android tablets last year that remains undistributed and lacking proper documentation.
In the 2022 report released last May 16, the Commission on Audit said while the local government unit identified 33 recipient primary and secondary public schools, there was no memorandum of agreement (MOA) between the province and the Schools Division of Mountain Province.
Auditors found that funding for the procurement amounted to P6.16 million which was drawn from the LGU’s Special Education Fund (SEF).
The audit team traced 420 of the tablets are now in the custody of the Office of the Schools Division Superintendent while 37 were received by the Office of the Provincial Governor on August 31, 2022.
“However, these remained undistributed to date pending set up and configuration in order for these to be ready for use by the intended beneficiaries,” auditors said.
The Provincial Local School Board Secretary informed the COA that recipients of the 420 tablets were selected solely by the Office of the Schools Division Superintendent, while the recipients of the remaining 37 tablets have yet to be finalized.
The Office of the Provincial Governor is reportedly planning to donate the 37 tablets to private schools.
It was clarified that the tablets will remain as properties of recipient schools so that students can only use them inside the campus.
Based on the distribution list drawn, 30 tablets each will go to Leseb Elementary School and Lubon National High School, 26 to Asbiagan ES, 23 to Sadanga Central School, 21 each to Natonin Central School and Ambassing ES, 20 to MP Special Education Center, 18 to Barlig Central School; 17 each to Cadad-anan ES, Sayapot ES, and Data ES; 16 each to Belwang ES and Bunga ES, 15 to Samoki ES; 14 each to Dandanac ES, Caotit Primary School, and Kabulalaan ES; 13 to Dalanao ES; 12 each to Cotcot Primary School, Sacasacan ES and Saliok ES; 11 to Suquib ES, 10 to Lingoy-Chatol ES, 8 to Apalis ES, 7 to Madepdepas ES, and 6 to Pacak ES.
