OPERATIVES of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group arrested eight Chinese allegedly involved in kidnapping, illegal recruitment and gunrunning in Pasay City last Wednesday.

PNP chief Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said five of the suspects were arrested while selling loose firearms during a buy-bust operation at Unit E and F of Storey Townhouse, 250 F. Sanchez Street, corner P. Villanueva Street in Pasay City at around 10:30 a.m.

Seized from the five were a Colt Defense 5.56mm M4 Carbine mounted with a sniper scope and silencer; a Glock 19 9mm pistol; a cal.45 pistol; magazine assemblies; several ammunition; taser; handcuffs; laptops; mobile phones, assorted identification cards and assorted ATM cards.

Their three cohorts who locked themselves in their apartment were also arrested.

The PNP did not identify the eight, who were brought to the CIDG Regional Field Unit-National Capital Region for filing of charges.

Citing a CIDG report, PNP public affairs office chief Brig. Gen. Roderick Alba said “the arrested suspects were allegedly involved in illegal recruitment, kidnapping, and gun-running, operating within Metro Manila.”
