It’s been fifteen years since the “King of Pop” Michael Jackson left this earth, but his music continues to live on in the hearts and minds of millions. The magic and iconic moves of Michael Jackson will come to life once again in “Michael Lives Forever,” a tribute show headlined by the incredible impersonator Rodrigo Teaser, happening on March 14 and 15 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.
Rodrigo, a Brazilian performer, channels the “King of Pop” in extraordinary ways. At a press conference held at Pardon My French in Makati last Tuesday, he captivated the media with a stunning vocal performance.
Reflecting on his journey, Rodrigo shared that he was just 9 years old when he first began impersonating his idol. “Never thought that it would bring me so far. I am 44,” he said.
Rodrigo is proud to have the support of the actual choreographer and music supervisor who were part of Michael Jackson’s team. “Our show today has the supervision of LaVelle Smith, Jr., who was a dancer and choreographer for Michael. He worked with Michael for more than 20 years. Our show also has the musical supervision of Kevin Dorsey, who was Michael’s backup singer and musical coordinator for over 20 years.”
He added, “I don’t know how long I’ll be able to do this, but I always say that as long as I can perform with respect for Michael and the audience, I’ll keep doing it.”
While there will only ever be one Michael Jackson, fans and music enthusiasts can still relive his unforgettable hits like “Human Nature,” “Smooth Criminal,” “Rock With You,” “Shake Your Body Down to the Ground,” “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough,” “Billie Jean,” “Beat It,” “The Way You Make Me Feel,” “Heal the World,” “Dangerous,” “Black or White” and “Thriller” when they witness Rodrigo Teaser, the finest Michael Jackson impersonator, perform live for the first time in Manila in “Michael Lives Forever.”
