Star Magic hosted a grand contract signing event, “Magical Vibes: Star Magic Music Room,” for their latest artists — Esang, James Philippe, Jarlo Base and Diego Gutierrez — last Tuesday at Noctos Music Bar in Quezon City.
Family and friends saw Diego, Jarlo, and siblings Esang and James welcomed by ABS-CBN executives, including Laurent Dyogi (TV Production and Star Magic head), Roxy Liquigan (ABS-CBN Music head), Elaine Vy-Casipit (head of digital services and business development), Love Almazan-Capulong (head of Star Magic Special Events and Digital, and senior talent manager), Raymond Dizon (ABS-CBN business unit head), and Jonathan Manalo (creative director of ABS-CBN Music).
The four singer-songwriters were thrilled to showcase their talents on a bigger stage. One by one, they captivated the crowd with their powerful performances.
Cool and collected Diego, who comes from showbiz royalty on both his mother Lotlot de Leon’s and father Ramon Christopher’s sides, shared that his grandmother, “Asia’s Queen of Songs” Pilita Corrales, remains one of his musical inspirations. He performed two of his breezy original songs, one inspired by a lost love, to the crowd, which included his dad, Ramon Christopher, and cousin, actress Ara Davao.
“Thank you again to Star Magic for this wonderful opportunity. I promise to make the most of it, keep working hard, and strive to be a better artist to truly represent the #TatakStarMagic,” Diego said, who is co-managed by LVD’s Rey Lañada and Fred Blasco.
James Philippe also showcased his singing and songwriting skills, performing original tracks and sharing the stories behind them. He expressed gratitude to God for the chance to share his talent as part of Star Magic. “Thank you so much for the opportunity,” James said.
Jarlo was introduced by Colet of BINI, who enthusiastically recommended one of Jarlo’s songs to their fans, praising its sound and message. Her endorsement quickly generated excitement among followers, highlighting Jarlo’s growing influence in the music scene.
“I’m feeling very excited, and honestly, I feel at home,” Jarlo said.
Esang, best known for her vocal prowess and stage presence, gained recognition as a contestant on “The Voice Kids Philippines” Season 2, where she was mentored by Lea Salonga. During the event, it was Lea Salonga herself who introduced Esang, recognizing her as a promising talent.
“I am beyond grateful to be standing here tonight as a newly launched Star Magic artist. I want to take this opportunity to thank Star Magic for believing in me and for giving me the chance to grow, learn, and share my passion with all of you,” Esang said.
“The Magical Vibes: Star Magic Music Room” event can be relived and watched on Star Magic’s official YouTube Channel and Facebook Page.
