PCSO holds 1st Social Workers Conference to strengthen charity services

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) successfully held its inaugural Social Workers Conference on June 19-20, 2025, in Mabalacat City, Pampanga.

The landmark event brought together PCSO social workers, branch managers, and key officials nationwide to strengthen their collective commitment to responsive and excellent public service under the theme “PCSO: Unwavering Charity Towards Responsive and Excellent Service.”

PCSO Assistant General Manager for the Charity Sector Arnel Casas delivered welcome remarks, emphasizing social workers’ indispensable role in delivering the agency’s charity programs.

General Manager Melquiades Robles gave the keynote address, highlighting PCSO’s commitment to continuously professionalize and empower front-line personnel while acknowledging social workers’ dedication in serving Filipinos under challenging circumstances.

Board of Directors members Janet Mercado, Jennifer Guevara, and Imelda Papin attended alongside Chief of Staff Jeremy Regino.

Participants discussed PCSO’s social work history and explored ways to enhance charity service delivery. Key programs covered included Medical Equipment Donation, Medical Transport Vehicle Donation, Institutional Partnership, Medical Access, Medical and Dental Mission, and Corporate Social Responsibility programs.

Charity Assistance Department Manager Orly Malaca presented the System Integration of Charity Assistance Programs (SICAP), developed to meet increasing demand for fast, transparent, and reliable public service. SICAP aims to streamline processes, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure timely, accountable assistance for beneficiaries.

The conference included orientation on Republic Act No. 9433 (Magna Carta for Public Social Workers) by Professional Regulation Commission Board member Jerusa Arnante-Homo, reinforcing social workers’ rights, responsibilities, and standards.

The event concluded with renewed unity, purpose, and commitment among PCSO’s social workers, solidifying their role as a professional, empowered, and compassionate workforce dedicated to delivering unwavering charity and excellent service to Filipinos.
