LWUA expands water services

 Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) officer-in-charge Eileen L. Dela Vega (left) inspects the newly inaugurated pumping station of Calumpit Water District (CWD) in Bulacan which will improve water supply to the municipality’s 29 barangays — including nearby towns and Pampanga.

 Manila Central Post Office earns ISO certification

The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) main Post Office branch at the Manila Central Post Office in Liwasang Bonifacio has earned its ISO 9001:2015 certification following the successful establishment of its Quality Management System (QMS).

The certification was issued on November 2 by WQA Phils Inc., an international certification body that provides quality certification services for various kinds of management systems in diverse sectors, in a simple handover of certificate ceremony witnessed by post office officials and employees led by Postmaster General Norman Fulgencio.

The Post Office was assessed based on internationally recognized standards to demonstrate the competence, impartiality, and performance capability of post office services, in conformity with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 with the scope “Acceptance, Processing, Dispatching and Delivery of Mails and Parcels to and from Manila”.

The Philippine Post Office has launched several initiatives to innovate and modernize its services, as it facilitates the efficient delivery of communications, payment of services, as well as goods and merchandise, in step with the rise of e-commerce and online transactions.

ISO, or the International Organization for Standardization, is an independent, non-governmental, international organization that develops standards to ensure the quality, safety, and efficiency of products, services, and systems.

Consumer insights, trends webcon

This year’s CISW’s “The Turning Point – Post Pandemic Consumer Insights and Trends” theme will consider the historical perspective of pandemics and their effect on cultural renewal. In the past, every pandemic was followed by a rebirth. Will this be the same for our time?

What opportunities lie before us? How are consumers and businesses adjusting and coping with the many changes constantly happening? What challenges are we facing now and in the future? Are we truly on the road to recovery or should we brace ourselves for more pitfalls?

These and more will be tackled  during “The Turning Point –  Post Pandemic Consumer Insights and Trends” CIS webcon on November 24 and 25. A virtual event where we get to have a closer look at the post pandemic consumer insights and trends.

On Day 1 of the webcon, “The Consumer Awakens” sub-theme will identify new consumer needs and tackle the trends that can help pinpoint needs and customer expectations.

Day 2 will be all about New Beginnings, innovative and inspirational ideas .

CEO & chairman of Havas-Ortega will be the keynote speaker to discuss the renaissance from pandemics. Other speakers include Martin Oxley of Buzzback, Joan Penaflorida of Yondu, Inc. Emma Mclnnes of YouGov, Roki Ferrer of Dentsu,  Mels Timan of Nutriasia, Josh Aragon of Zagana.com, Anna Lagon of BAYO, Germaine Reyes of Synergy Market Research. Boosting techvoc

The Alsons Power group’s Siayan Sindangan Zambo-River Power Corp. (SZPC) recently affirmed its commitment to advance technical (techvoc) education in its various host communities thru a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Regional Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) of the Zamboanga Peninsula (Region 9), and the Municipality of Siayan, Zamboanga del Norte.

SZPC is developing a hydroelectric power project of up to 22 mega-watts (MW) encompassing various municipalities in Zamboanga del Norte.

At the signing ceremony held at the Siayan Municipal Hall, SZPC turned over electrical, construction and welding tools and equipment valued at P200,000 to be utilized at the TESDA Tech Voc. Training center in the Municipality.

Alsons Power- Mindanao’s first private sector power generator plans to develop at least seven more run of river hydro power facilities in different parts of Mindanao and the Visayas.  The group currently operates four power facilities in Mindanao with a total generating capacity of 468 MW serving over eight million people in 14 cities and 11 provinces in the country’s second largest island.

Christmas like no other

This holiday season, Araneta City brightens up once again for a Yuletide celebration like no other through its iconic giant Christmas tree.

The City of Firsts lit its 100-feet Christmas tree  on October 28 to kick off Araneta City’s “Christmas Like No Other” celebration for 2022.

For this year, the giant Christmas tree sparkles in mostly red and gold colors to suit the carnival theme. It is adorned with 3,000 pieces LED bulbs, 2,000 pieces Christmas balls, 100 pieces hot air balloon ornaments, 1,000 pieces pine garlands, and other Christmas ornaments.

Apart from the giant Christmas tree, two classic Christmas attractions in Araneta City — the Christmas on Display and Fiesta Carnival — will make an exciting comeback this year.

PLDT, Smart enable distance learning

PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications Inc. onboarded teachers from public schools across Catanduanes into the Central Visayan Institute Foundation — Dynamic Learning Program (CVIF-DLP) which complements current lesson delivery channels of the Department of Education.

“The CVIF-DLP is a teaching strategy that builds on the DepEd’s current delivery platforms whether these are on-site learning, online classes, printed modules,  or broadcast media. It’s a proven pedagogy that has proven its worth at the height of pandemic-related restrictions. More than 700 public school teachers have been trained for Schoolyear 2022-2023,” said Stephanie Orlino, assistant vice president and head of Stakeholder Management at PLDT and Smart.

Developed by Ramon Magsaysay awardees Dr. Christopher Bernido and the late Dr. Maria Victoria Bernido, the CVIF-DLP encourages independent learning among students. Central to the program are the CVIF-DLP Learning Activity Sheets  that help improve learner outcomes even with little to no teacher or parent intervention.

Smart and PLDT-Smart Foundation have supported the CVIF-DLP for over a decade. The program highlights PLDT and Smart’s thrust to promote inclusive quality education that leaves no learner behind.
