The Federated Land Transport Organizations of the Philippines (FELTOP) yesterday asked the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to defer collection of P169 computer fees in compliance with the order of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
The group sought anew the assistance of DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista on the stoppage of collection of the P169 computer fees in the processing of public utility vehicle registration renewals and miscellaneous transactions.
The computer fee had been already removed earlier when the LTO, under the previous Duterte administration, undertook the computerization of their in-house IT systems and contracted for the establishment of the Land Transportation Management System but collection resumed under the new LTO administration.
Bautista ordered the scrapping in December.
PUV driver-members of the FELTOP have gathered evidence, mainly official receipts of LTO transactions with the LTO-National Capital Region particularly their Public Utility Vehicle Registration Center (PUVREC) Quezon City and PUVREC Pasay showing their collection of the computer fees.
FELTOP earlier hailed Bautista’s prompt action on their previous complaint against the collection of P169 computer fees by the LTO in the processing of public utility vehicle registration renewals and miscellaneous transactions.
