EY GDS to hike staff to 7,500

EY Global Delivery Services (GDS) targets to grow by 50 percent the number of its employees n the Philippines in two years to serve its global clients which are EY member- firms.

In a press conference, Andrea Catte, EY GDS Philippines tax co-leader and EY Asia-Pacific & EY Global Compliance and Reporting ( lead, said the company will boost staffing to 7,500 from the current 5,000.

Catte cited the English proficiency of workers as well as the rich talent pool of accounting and business graduates as an advantage of the Philippines, considered the second largest in EY GDS network globally after India.

While the company is not expanding with another facility soon, it will ramp up to 500 the number of workers in its newly opened office in Cebu.

Catte said EY GDS is focusing on technology including AI as well as in equipping the company’s workers with the right skills to remain competitive.

Raymond Go, EY GDS Philippines consulting leader and Asia-Pacific SAP leader, noted these steps will enable the company weather the changing environment brought by geopolitical events and technology disruptions.

Of the services offered from the Philippines, 50 percent are in assurance and the rest are in tax and consulting. EY firms based in Asia-Pacific and Oceania are among the clients served by EY GDS Philippines.
