Carga IO Corp. is introducing a logistics solution that taps into cargo trucks that are running empty on the way back after doing an initial delivery.

Carga is the country’ first backload transport solution for shippers and truckers.

Sam Lato, Carga chief executive officer, said Carga’s service makes use of cargo trucks that are empty on their way back after a one-way delivery.

This is called backloading, allowing the delivery truck owner a means to generate revenue on the trip.

The company is confident it can capture at least 10 percent of the market.

There are 200,000 trucks that ply the Philippines’ thoroughfares.

Carga aims to address the logistics needs of the micro, small and medium (MSMEs).

Lato said the company’s service can deliver to as far as Appari in the north and Davao or Zamboanga in the south, “so long as it is services by a Ro-Ro (roll on, roll off).”

Potential customers can tap into Carga’s service through its mobile app Carga Backload Solutions, that can be installed on a smart phone which allows a user to track the route of his package real time.

Lato said the company’s service is particularly suitable to the needs of SMEs who need to have small packages delivered to another place quickly but are too small for a full package cargo delivery service.

Carga’s mobile app serves as a gateway for shippers to connect to a pool of truckers at more affordable rates due to backload, while meeting their preferred schedules and needs.

“The app also empowers truckers to increase their load and maximize vehicle use through real-time demand visibility which allows them to carry backload anytime,” Carga said.

Lato said based on Carga’s study, half of the 200,000 delivery trucks running on the streets are empty on their way back from bringing a package the other way.

Lato said Carga has partnered with a number of such fleet of cargo trucks for its service and currently has a combined fleet of 100 and will continue to increase as it expands its partnership.

Carga said its service can also help reduce the traffic congestion.

Carga paves the way for accessible delivery of goods and commodities for everyone, anytime, nationwide. It offers several vehicle model options like forward and semi-forward trucks as well as 4 to 12-wheeler trucks from its own fleet and partner corporate and private truckers.
