MEGAWORLD Corp. is the first major developer to invest in San Vicente, Palawan, a laidback beach town and home to the longest white beach in the Philippines and the second-longest coastline in Southeast Asia.
According to Harold Geronimo, senior assistant vice president and head of Public Relations and Media Affairs of Megaworld, the 462-hectare Paragua Coastown is an eco-tourism community covering nine barangays.
The ecotourism township incorporates residential, commercial and a boutique hotel district to the natural wonders of the area such as the mangroves and reserve parks leading up to the mountain as well as the virgin beach.
“The Philippines has so much to offer, we should be able to showcase that….how to provide facilities for tourists where they can stay and enjoy their visit. Property developers need to invest in tourism, provided we keep our commitment that we do not destroy the environment. Wherever we build, we should be conscious about the natural habitat of the animals, the forests and the centuries old trees,” said Geronimo.
Megaworld is now developing the first 83 hectares of the development.
That is less than 20 percent of the sprawling property. Initial components announced are Initial components of Oceanfront Premier Residences, Paragua Beach Village, Savoy Hotel Palawan, Mercato Shophouse District, and Porto Hotel District
“We started construction in 2022. We should see substantial components (finished in) 15 to 20 years. We need to be extra careful.
In the development because of the environment,” Geronimo added.
Located between Puerto Princesa and El Niño, Paragua Coastown is minutes away from the San Vicente Airport.
For the 160-hectare Boracay Newcoast, Geronimo said the development has reached 60 to 70 percent with the rest for the development of the remaining villages, the commercial, shop house and boutique hotels.
