THIS NEW YEAR’S EVE: Travel platform reports increased interest in international travel for Filipinos

Digital travel platform Agoda notes a 34 percent increase in accommodation searches for international trips by Filipino travelers this New Year’s Eve.

Tokyo, Hong Kong, Taipei, Bangkok, and Singapore emerged as the top five destinations for Filipino travelers, with Tokyo and Hong Kong swapping places compared to last year, when Hong Kong was the most searched international destination.

In addition to the growth in international travel, domestic travel searches have also risen (+2 percent), while inbound searches have increased by 10 percent compared to last New Year’s Eve.

Manila, Cebu, and Boracay Island are the most popular domestic destinations, while Manila, Cebu, and Bohol are favored by international travelers. Searches for New Year’s Eve in the Philippines come predominantly from South Korea, Japan, and the United States.

Agoda analyzed the searches made between 1 and 27 November 2024 with a check-in date of 31 December 2024. Comparisons are based on data from 1-27 November 2023.
