Safe, convenient flights within reach of Filipinos

The recent easing of travel restrictions has made it possible for Filipinos bitten by the travel bug to sate their wanderlust again. However, people remain leery of going out to book their plane tickets and paying cash for it.

Airasia and GCash hopes to address this issue via a partnership that will provide an easy way to pay cashless for bookings.

Travelers can now pay for their Airasia plane fare and accommodation in partner hotels simply by using the GCash apps on their mobile phones.

They can also opt for contactless payment using the GCash app at Airasia counters and Airasia shop purchases.

Guests can also book through the Airasia website and pay via GCash under the “Wallet” tab on the payment page

“At GCash, we have pioneered a number of digital payment innovations to help Filipinos during the pandemic, and this partnership with Airasia is a continuation of its thrust to provide users with safe and convenient payment solutions. Airasia supports this thrust as it continues to provide its customers with convenience and safety when flying with them,” Martha Sazon, GCash President and Chief Executive Officer, said.

For Airasia, which has made flying accessible to a greater number of Filipinos through its low-cost plane fare offers, the partnership will bring safe and affordable travel even more within reach of Pinoys through the exciting promo offers and discounts that will be available exclusively to GCash’s over 40 million users.

To jumpstart the partnership, Airasia and GCash has rolled out a promo providing discounted seats for customers who book their flights until June 13. During the promo period, customers can get 10 percent off for flights booked.

“Now more than ever, industries need to collaborate and what makes this journey more meaningful is our collaboration with Globe and GCash. What we both have in mind is convenience for our customers while keeping them safe through the use of contactless and digital systems,” AirAsia Philippines Chief Executive Officer Ricardo P. Isla said.
