SM Hotels and Conventions Corp. sees Mall of Asia (MOA) Complex in Pasay City is set to become the most comprehensive meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibition (MICE) venue in the country.

SMHCC in May launched SMX CITE designed to be a strategic extension of SMX Manila. SMX is the entity for the conventions business of SMHCC.

Also located within the MOA Complex, it adds another 18,000 square meters (sq.m.) of exhibition space on top of SMX Manila’s 17,000 sq.m.

“Combined, that’s over 35,000 sq.m., making MOA the most comprehensive MICE destination in the country,” SMHCC said in an email interview on Thursday.

While SMX CITE is purpose-built for large-scale trade exhibitions, international summits, and government-led expos, SMX Manila retains its strength as a versatile venue for conventions, product launches, and corporate events, the company said.

SMHCC said SMX Manila, on the other hand, continues to offer its well-appointed function rooms—an integral part of its business; catering to high-frequency, mid-sized meetings and social functions that remain in steady demand

“Together, they offer scale and synergy through its ability to run concurrent large events or expand single events across venues. For the market, it means more capacity, more options, and world-class infrastructure right in the heart of Pasay,” it said.

SMHCC also SMHCC expressed confidence on the growth of

MICE sector, citing strong momentum for in-person engagements and the Philippines’ growing competitiveness in hosting regional and global events.

“We see strong potential and significant promise in the future of business tourism and the MICE industry in the Philippines. As in-person engagements gain momentum globally, SMX sees the country playing a more competitive role in hosting regional and international events. The strategic location, talent pool, and improving infrastructure make the Philippines a natural destination for MICE growth,” SMHCC said.

Aside from SMXCITE, the company has lined up other projects in key regional cities like Cebu, Davao, Bacolod and Cabanatuan which will extend SMX’s position as the largest convention center network in the Philippines.

But SMHCC said beyond expanding the footprint, SMX has always been consistent when it comes to service, professionalism and experience across all locations.

“This expansion allows us to serve more markets, more clients, and more types of events than any other provider in the country,” it added.

With the upcoming launch of SMX Seaside Cebu and SMXCITE in Pasay, SMX will operate 10 venues nationwide, up from our current 8. Today, its footprint stands at approximately 42,000 sq.m. of leasable events space.

The two new venues will add a combined 39,000 sqm, bringing thetotal to 81,000 sq.m., or nearly doubling ther capacity.

“That scale not only reaffirms but significantly extends SMX’s position as the largest convention center network in the Philippines,” SMHCC said.

Beyond the event venue, SMX provides ease and access to an integrated hub with hotels, retail, dining, transport links, and lifestyle options, all connected, all in one place, it added.

“For SMHCC, expansion is aligned not just with market demand—but with nation-building. New venues in regions like Cebu, Davao, Bacolod, and Cabanatuan are more than infrastructure investments; they are economic multipliers that support local tourism, generate jobs, and bring business to surrounding communities,” it said.
