With six diverse brands in 12 locations and rooms totaling 4,500, Megaworld Hotels and Resorts continues to embrace and find ways to mature into the brand that each Filipino could be proud of.
It is currently the Philippines’ largest homegrown hospitality management hotel chain, and, in an exclusive interview with Malaya Business Insight , said that they are not stopping there.
“We still have more hotel property openings to announce,” Cleofe Albiso, Megaworld Hotels and Resorts managing director, said.
With three major homegrown brands–Savoy, Belmont, and Richmonde–Megaworld Hotels and Resorts’ properties are strategically located to serve all kinds of holiday goers.
Their properties extend from the exciting entertainment complexes of Eastwood City and Newport City to the cultural city of Iloilo and the pristine white sand beaches of Boracay,
“Our hearts are full knowing that Megaworld Hotels and Resorts takes pride and joy as we open more opportunities for people to work, invest in the tourism industry and contribute to a healthier economy,” Albiso said.
Albiso said that Megaworld Hotel and Resorts is taking all the things it has learned since it opened its first property, the Richmonde Hotel Ortigas, 23 years ago.
Albiso said they have since improved their business philosophy and practices, and will continue to do so, even after they have opened their 12th property, the Belmont Hotel Mactan.
“The secret is finding wholistic purpose in what we do that is not only a reflection of what we believe in but how we impact the lives of our associates, empower our guests and be contributors to the community,” she added, allowing them to continue doing what they love and sharing a piece of their heart for each guest to find their hotels their home.
“We acknowledge that we are a work in progress and have the desire to keep improving the way we host our guests and the way we operate,” she noted.
“Our growth has allowed us to provide more employment opportunities growing our Megaworld Hotels and Resorts family.”
The hospitality chain takes a holistic approach to product innovation.
In comparison to how it was 24 years ago with its first property, Megaworld Hotels and Resorts now have a more diverse portfolio creating an option for different persons that it welcome in its hotels.
“We are grateful for the capacity to extend employment to more than 2,000 individuals, help build local business capacity through our available logistics in the locations where we thrive, and uplift the world renowned Filipino service in the tourism sector anchored on nation building,” Albiso shared.
The hospitality chain never forgets to thank the instrumental people — its employees, corporate partners, and loyal guests — who allowed them to achieve breakthroughs and recognition through the years especially during the height of the pandemic.
Other than growing the hospitality chain’s number of properties and improving the bottom line, “we celebrate our hotel’s present and promising future by putting more focus on sustainability efforts in our daily operation,” she pointed out.
The only way it celebrates its present is by making responsible choices to create a positive impact.
Megaworld Hotels and Resorts likewise celebrates its simple wins in its green efforts against single-use plastics in its guest rooms and offices. Also lessening food wastage, as well as devising composting for its edible gardens that yield vegetables and herbs used in its own kitchens.
Megaworld Hotels and Resorts has proven to be a resilient brand in times of adversity. During the start of the pandemic, it was one of the very first brands to say yes to the “Bayan Muna” movement in order to be part of the solution. Along with others, it has revolutionized how it takes service to heart and truly elevated it to its calling.
Albiso said they believed in the vision of their founder and chairman Andrew Tan; take inspiration from the management principles and anchor on the wisdom and support of Megaworld’s chief operating officer, Lourdes Gutierrez Alfonso; and take motivation to keep up with the times, new trends and industry innovation from Alliance Global Inc.’s chief executive officer Kevin Tan.
The hospitality chain’s property general managers together with the rest of their teams along with the expert assistance of the corporate leaders have all gone beyond the call of duty, always prioritizing guests’ best interest and the ideals of the brand.
Megaworld Hotels and Resorts recognized as Best Operational Hotel Portfolio awardee, as awarded by the PropertyGuru during the 10th Philippines PropertyGuru Awards.
Albiso was also hailed as the 22nd Gold Mabuhay Awardee during the 25th Mabuhay Awards 2022 organized by the Association of Human Resource Managers in the Hospitality Industry of the Philippines.
