The (WTTC) Safe Travels Stamp recognizes governments and businesses that have adopted global health standardized protocols.

Additional thirty-three Department of Tourism (DOT)-accredited accommodation establishments from six regions recently received the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) Safe Travels Stamp.

Of the total, five are star-rated hotels and 28 have regular accreditation.

These hotels complied with the DOT’s health and safety guidelines aligned with the WTTC Safe Travels protocols, duly inspected and endorsed by the regional offices concerned.

With the addition of the 33 establishments, there are now a total of 40 recipients of the Safe Travels Stamp.

Those that received the stamp earlier this year were Grand Hyatt Hotel, Joy Nostalg Hotel & Suites Manila, Aruga by Rockwell, The Peninsula Manila, Solaire Resort, The Forest Lodge, and The Manor at Camp John Hay.

Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, DOT secretary, said the agency received more than 100 applications coming from the different regions, which also include Mabuhay accommodation establishments and destinations.

Puyat said this surge of interest is reflective of their readiness to adapt to the new normal and their desire to be globally recognized as a fun and ‘safe travels’ facility.

With vaccination in the country underway, the DOT hopes that parallel initiatives across the globe will hasten the resumption of international travel.

The WTTC Safe Travels Stamp, on top of the DOT accreditation, will restore traveler confidence in the Philippines as a safe and fun destination.

To apply for the stamp, interested accommodation establishments must submit a letter of intent, accomplished application form and the establishment’s logo, while destinations must include the local government unit profile, health and safety-related issuances/ordinances and the destination’s logo.

Applications should be coursed through the DOT’s regional offices.

Those presently repurposed as quarantine or isolation facilities are not qualified to apply.
