VinFast vice-chair Thuy replaces Lohscheller as global CEO

Vingroup announced its decision to appoint the incumbent Vice Chair Le Thi Thu Thuy as VinFast Global CEO. Her predecessor, Michael Lohscheller, will leave the position and return to Europe due to personal reasons.

According to this decision, Thuy will take over the position of VinFast Global CEO, managing VinFast’s operations and driving the Vietnamese carmaker towards becoming a global smart electric car firm, while she will remain as a Vingroup Vice Chairwoman.

Based in Vietnam, the Vingroup Vice Chairwoman will directly be in charge of overseeing VinFast’s business activities in its current markets, including Vietnam, the US, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands. In the coming time, she will also lead market survey activities and expansions into other potential markets globally.

“I am thrilled to take this position and will make efforts for our goal of steering VinFast towards success in the international market and winning the heart of global consumers. I would also like to extend my gratitude to Mr. Michael Lohscheller for his contributions to VinFast. We regret to say goodbye to Mr. Lohscheller and wish him all the best in his life and career,” Le Thi Thu Thuy said as she commented on her new task.

For his part, Michael Lohscheller shared: “It was an honor to serve VinFast and its people. VinFast is on its way to become a successful global electric brand. I wish VinFast all the best for its future. Thank you VinFast! Thank you Vingroup! Thank you Vietnam!”

With years of experience in different managing positions and having served as key leaders in the fields of industry, technology, finance, investment and international relations, Madam Le Thi Thu Thuy is expected to play a key role in enhancing VinFast’s stature as a global brand and bringing VinFast smart EVs to global consumers.

Who is Le Thi Thu Thuy?

Born in 1974 in Binh Dinh Province of Vietnam, Le Thi Thu Thuy graduated from the Foreign Trade University in Hanoi and obtained her MBA at the International University of Japan. She also completed the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program.

Before becoming Vingroup Vice Chair and VinFast Global CEO, Madam Thuy used to serve as an influential executive for Lehman Brothers in Japan, Thailand, Singapore. In 2008, she joined Vingroup as the conglomerate’s CFO and later on was appointed CEO of Vingroup and VinSmart.
