The electric dreams of a Chinese luxury marque have just been realized with an impressive upgrade. EVOxTerra Inc., the exclusive distributor of the Hongqi in the Philippines, recently rolled out the red carpet at the TDG In.Hub Atrium in Taguig for the debut of two electrified head-turners: the revamped E-HS9 and E-QM5 Plus.
These are full-blown “glow-ups.” The E-HS9 and E-QM5 Plus are the evolved forms of Hongqi’s most beloved EVs, now equipped with longer legs, sharper suits, and a few new tricks under the hood.
Range that roars
The E-HS9 now stretches its legs to a whopping 515 km on a single charge—up from 440 km. That’s enough juice to cruise from Manila to Vigan and still have battery left for a detour to the beach. Meanwhile, the E-QM5 Plus surges from 430 km to a road-trip-ready 560 km, making range anxiety a thing of the past.
The E-HS9 rolls on 22-inch rims, giving it a wider stance. Inside, it’s a concert hall on wheels—a BOSE audio system that’s been upgraded from 12 to 16 speakers. That’s surround sound with swagger.
The E-QM5 Plus, meanwhile, gets ventilated seats and cruise control, because why should luxury stop at the driver’s seat? It’s all about keeping cool while looking cool.
Decadence meets tech
“As we roll out these new flagship vehicles, Hongqi remains committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation in the luxury EV sphere,” Rashid Delgado, Co-CEO of Hongqi Philippines and President of EVOxTerra, crowed about his wheels. “Every model we release is a fusion of cutting-edge tech and pure decadence.”

Sneak peek: HS3 PHEV
Also teased at the event was the Hongqi HS3 PHEV, a plug-in hybrid SUV that’s part muscle, part whisper. With a 1.5-liter turbo engine, 168 kW electric motor, and 565 Nm of torque, it rockets from 0–100 km/h in 7.6 seconds. Add a 115 km pure electric range, 1,400+ km combined range, and 19-minute DC fast charging, and you’ve a crossover that’s as practical as it is posh. – Torque&Power/MBI
