What makes Monbukagakusho particularly attractive is its generous financial package. Scholars typically receive substantial tuition exemptions alongside monthly stipends between ¥117,000 and ¥242,000, depending on their program. The scholarship also covers the round-trip flight between Manila and Tokyo, plus additional allowances for housing, books, and medical care—essentials that often prevent talented students from studying abroad.
Many recipients also highlight the value of the preliminary Japanese language training. The language preparation is seen as a crucial tool for adjusting to life away from home and gives them the confidence not just in the classroom but for everyday life in Japan.
