The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) received the Silver Award for Good Governance at the ARTA Recognition and Engagement Forum for the Philippine Good Regulatory Principles (PGRP) and Recognition and Awards Program (RAP) on 29 May 2025 in Quezon City.
MARINA emerged as the highest scorer and sole first-time recipient of the Silver Award, underscoring the agency’s commitment to regulatory excellence and public service.
“This recognition is a testament to MARINA’s continued commitment to promoting ease of doing business and to creating a fair and enabling environment for all stakeholders,” said Samuel L. Batalla, Executive Director of MARINA’s STCW Office, who accepted the award on behalf of Administrator Sonia Malaluan.
“We will continue to raise the bar of service excellence as we work toward a more efficient, inclusive, and globally competitive maritime industry for all Filipinos,” Batalla added.
ARTA Director General Secretary Ernesto V. Perez praised MARINA as a model agency, setting a high standard for other government agencies to follow.
The recognition also highlighted MARINA’s MISMO System as part of the government’s digital transformation initiatives under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr’s administration, supporting the implementation of ARTA’s Ease of Doing Business (EODB) Act or Republic Act No. 11032 to streamline government services.
