2025 GSIS National Art Competition celebrates two decades of Filipino creativity

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) marked a significant milestone with the 20th GSIS National Art Competition on June 11, 2025, at the GSIS complex in Pasay City. This year’s event set a new record with nearly 1,000 participating artists—the largest turnout in the competition’s two-decade history.

The annual contest, a cornerstone of the Philippine art scene, featured representational and non-representational categories with an open theme for artists aged 18 and above. Held in partnership with the Art Association of the Philippines (AAP), the competition serves as both a launchpad for emerging talents and a celebration of the nation’s rich cultural heritage.

GSIS President and General Manager Arnulfo “Wick” Veloso emphasized the institution’s commitment to nation-building through the arts during the awarding ceremony. “We believe that a nation rich in culture is ready to embark on…continuous progress,” Veloso said.

AAP President Fidel Sarmiento highlighted the competition’s transformative impact on artists’ careers, noting how it helps newcomers break into the national art scene while validating established artists’ hard work and dedication.
