FILINVEST Hospitality Corp. (FHC), the hotel arm of the Gotianun-led Filinvest Development Corp., is looking to develop 2,000 more hotel keys to beef up its presence around the country.
Francis Gotianun, FHC first senior vice president, said the pipeline is good for five years consist of home-grown brands.
The target will nearly double the company’s portfolio of 1,800 keys.
“We’re focusing on key tourist destinations across the country. We’re working on a collection of the top spots. So that when we go out into the international market or even the domestic market, we can sell all the good destinations,” he explained.
Gotianun identified Boracay, Palawan, Bohol, Baguio and Cebu in particular noting that, “it’s more about the quality of the keys and the spread as opposed to the number.”
“While there is a lot of focus on the number of keys, we’re really focusing on creating a collection of hotels in the right locations. So that when we go out into the market, we can sell all the best of the Philippines,” he said.
FHC will be opening its new hotel in Baguio in the first quarter of 2025. It is also building Crimson Hotel in Mimosa, Clark while it is in the middle of a full-scale renovation of Crimson Mactan.
“And we have a couple other projects that we’ll announce probably by the end of the year. But, yes, we’re very bullish. We can really see the tourism numbers starting to come back up. Very strong domestic. International, still a little bit below, but we think we’ll catch up,” Gotianun said.
