Ray Go Manigsaca, AppleOne chief executive officer and president, said the group has set its eyes in Cagayan de Oro City, a strategic expansion that will fortify the company’s presence beyond Visayas and into the rising property market of Mindanao. Manigsaca said the business move aims to contribute to the development of CDO as a prime city outside Metro Manila, and takes advantage of the city’s reputation as an up-and-coming premier tourist destination in the South.
“CDO is a prime location for our expansion efforts in Mindanao, its rich culture and natural tourist attractions make it a great destination hotspot for tourists. CDO being called the City of Golden Friendship for decades now reflects the hospitality of its people—they’re warm, friendly, and represents the unique brand of Mindanaoan hospitality that the world deserves to see and experience,” Manigsaca added.
The company is known for bringing luxury hotel and residences development and amenities into the regions outside of the country’s capital, and consecutively contributes to the economic and tourism sector growth of these regions.
The company is the developer behind Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort in Cebu, The company broke ground in Panglao, Bohol December last year the province’s first ever 5-star luxury hotel and residences, and is set to inaugurate Mahi Center and Fairfield by Marriott in Mactan Island by the latter part of this year.
AppleOne’s entry into Cagayan De Oro is well-timed, as Mindanao’s property industry is experiencing robust growth. The city is seeing a surge in both residential and commercial developments, driven by increased investor confidence and the local government’s push for infrastructure improvements. Tourism in CDO is also on the rise becoming a key destination for both local and international travelers, fueled by its rich cultural heritage, adventure tourism offerings, strategic urbanized location, and local government support.
CDO’s promising growth and investment potential stand out, especially with the 2nd Mindanao Tourism Expo 2024 (MTEx 2024) that was recently held in the city. The expo showcased tourism spots across Mindanao’s six regions, gift products, discounted tour packages, and other promotional displays. With joint support and efforts from local government offices and private stakeholders, the region’s potential as a premier travel destination will be further highlighted to more tourists and investors, fostering local community development and economic growth. Additionally, CDO serves as a gateway to various tourist spots in Mindanao, with the region seeing inbound arrivals of up to 2.5 million in 2023, according to Juan Carlos Valentino Baclig, Marketing and Promotion Head of DOT-10.
