Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) strengthens its global partnership with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) by providing 3,374 sustainable mobility solutions for the upcoming Paris 2024 Games. These accessible vehicles will empower athletes, staff, volunteers, media, and spectators with freedom of movement throughout the event.
Aligned with the Paris 2024 goal of reducing carbon emissions by half, Toyota’s offering showcases its multi-pathway approach to carbon neutrality. The company delivers a fully electrified fleet of 2,650 passenger vehicles, including 150 wheelchair-accessible options.
This includes battery electric vehicles (BEVs) like the Toyota bZ4X and Lexus RZ, as well as hydrogen-fuel-cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) like the Toyota Mirai. The Mirai fleet will be refueled with hydrogen derived from renewable sources, highlighting Toyota’s commitment to zero-emission mobility.
Beyond cars, Toyota brings 10 hydrogen mobility applications, including FCEV buses, trucks, forklifts, boats, coaches, and a Hilux prototype, showcasing the potential of hydrogen for a low-carbon future.
Toyota’s “Mobility for All” philosophy translates into 700 personal and group mobility products for the Games. This includes over 250 C+walkS and C+walkT electric vehicles, designed for easy maneuverability and safety. Additionally, 50 wheelchair e-pullers are available at the athletes’ village, with another 150 to be deployed during the Paralympic Games.
For convenient travel within the village and venues, 250 redesigned electric Accessible People Movers (APMs) are deployed. These are complemented by 150 wheelchair-accessible battery electric Toyota Proace Verso vehicles, which will remain in Paris for continued use after the Games.
Toyota’s partnership extends beyond vehicles. The company supports over 200 Global Team Toyota Athletes from 40 countries as they prepare for the Games. This aligns with Toyota’s “Start Your Impossible” (SYI) initiative, which encourages individuals to overcome challenges. In Southeast Asia, Toyota Motor Asia partners with 11 athletes who will compete in Paris and participate in SYI Hero Projects to create positive social change.
