TOYOTA Motor Philippines (TMP) launched last weekend, the latest version of its popular Corolla Cross crossover, with the key change being the transition to an exclusively hybrid powertrain.
Originally introduced in 2020 with both hybrid and traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) options, the 2024 Corolla Cross lineup features exclusively hybrid powertrains.
“The Corolla Cross, the first strong hybrid crossover in the Philippines, has been a key to accelerating electrification in the Philippines. TMP pioneered hybrid in 2009, but it’s upon the Corolla Cross launch in 2020 when we started achieving 3-digit annual sales figures of xEVs. Last year, TMP reached 7,203 Lexus and Toyota xEV sales,” TMP President Masando Hashimoto remarked as he emphasized how the Corolla Cross’s success contributing to accelerating the adoption of electrified vehicles in the Philippines.
Hashimoto stated. He further noted that over 4,000 electrified Corolla Cross vehicles are currently in use, part of a total exceeding 13,000 electrified Toyota and Lexus vehicles chosen by customers.
The new Corolla Cross expands TMP’s commitment to affordable electrified vehicles, with the G HEV variant starting at P1,498,000. Aesthetic updates include a mesh-like grille (V HEV and G HEV variants), LED headlamps with automatic high beams (V HEV and GR-S HEV variants), and a power back door with kick sensor (V HEV and GR-S HEV variants). The top-of-the-line GR-S HEV also includes a panoramic view monitor camera and a panoramic moonroof.
All Corolla Cross models now feature LED interior lamps, a leather steering wheel, and an electronic parking brake. The GR-S HEV features a 12.3-inch fully digital multi-information display (MID), while the V HEV has a 7-inch and the G HEV has a 4.2-inch TFT MID. All variants include a 10-inch display audio with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless smartphone charger.
Safety is prioritized with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) included on the GR-S and V variants, offering features such as a Pre-Collision System (PCS), Automatic High Beam (AHB), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. All variants include Emergency Brake Signal (EBS), Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC).
The new Corolla Cross utilizes a hybrid 4-cylinder engine with CVT transmission, combining traditional power with fuel-efficient electric drive.
Customers can view and test drive the new Toyota Corolla Cross at SM Aura in Taguig City until April 14th. It is also available for viewing and reservation at Toyota dealerships nationwide.

“The Corolla is the best-selling Toyota nameplate in the world… The Corolla’s story continues today, and with its role in carbon neutrality, we are working on having the Corolla enjoyed by generations to come,” Hashimoto said as he highlighted that these updates support Toyota’s goal of continuing the legacy of the Corolla.
The updated Corolla Cross was launched last April 12, at SM Aura in Taguig City with a simultaneous stream on Toyota’s Facebook page, and was displayed until April 14. It is now available for viewing and reservations at Toyota dealerships starting April 15. In addition to the Corolla Cross, Toyota offers hybrid variants of the Corolla Altis sedan, Camry, RAV4, Alphard, and Yaris Cross.
