Genesis Transport Services Inc. (GTSI) recently acquired the first four Scania Marcopolo Paradiso buses out of an initial order of ten. These new buses will be deployed on the Manila-Baguio route as part of the company’s JoyBus fleet upgrade.
The Scania Marcopolo Paradiso JoyBus boasts 28 VIP seats that are larger and more comfortable than standard seats. Passengers will also enjoy ample legroom, overhead storage compartments, individual USB charging ports, a well-appointed toilet, and a video-on-board entertainment system. The bus is powered by a 360-horsepower engine mated with an 8-speed gearbox for easy maneuvering on mountainous roads. Safety features include electronic stability program and retarder brakes.
“We were charmed by Scania upon seeing first-hand the many positive reviews from clients and passengers alike during our visit last year to BusWorld Europe,” said Riza Angara-Moises, President and CEO of GTSI.
The JoyBus service was launched in 2010 by Angara-Moises after she came across an article about an executive bus service in the United States. The Marcopolo bus body was chosen for its focus on passenger experience, which aligns with JoyBus’s mission.
Scania Marcopolo Paradiso JoyBus meets Euro 5 emission standards and offers up to 9 percent fuel savings. The buses are also equipped with a Fleet Management System for monitoring driver performance, vehicle data, and fleet location.
“This is just the beginning as we are hoping to order 100 or more buses in the future,” said Angara-Moises.
