ISUZU Philippines Corporation (IPC) unveiled a glimpse into its future, showcasing its ambitious foray into the electric vehicle (EV) market at the 45th Bangkok Motor Show. The highlight of the display was the introduction of the Isuzu D-MAX EV and Isuzu Elf EV Concepts, marking a significant step on the brand’s path to electrification and carbon neutrality.
The Isuzu D-MAX EV Concept, a prototype electric pickup designed for both commercial and personal use, takes center stage. It promises to deliver the renowned Isuzu performance across challenging terrains, combined with the quiet, efficient driving characteristic of battery electric vehicles (BEVs). Engineered with full-time 4-wheel drive, innovative e-Axles, and a potent 130kW electric motor delivering 325Nm of torque, the D-MAX EV aims to reshape the future of electric mobility. While initially slated for a European launch, its potential release in the ASEAN market is highly anticipated.
Alongside the D-MAX EV, the Isuzu Elf EV Concept demonstrates the brand’s commitment to sustainable solutions for urban logistics. Designed under the Isuzu Modular Architecture and Component Standards (I-MACS) and featuring a Center Drive System EV, this light-duty truck optimizes weight distribution, wheelbase, and turning radius for enhanced maneuverability in city environments. Powered by a 100-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery, the Elf EV showcases Isuzu’s dedication to greener logistics.
Isuzu also highlighted its popular D-MAX and mu-X models, outfitted with off-road and lifestyle accessories tailored to the adventurous Thai market. These concepts continue to represent Isuzu’s heritage of durability and reliability, updated with contemporary design and versatile functionality.
IPC President Tetsuya Fujita expressed optimism regarding Isuzu’s journey towards innovation and carbon neutrality, stating, “The future looks brighter for Isuzu…our latest developments…are a testament to our commitment to providing our customers worldwide, including the Philippines, with reliable, sustainable, and forward-thinking transportation solutions.” As Isuzu continues to explore diverse carbon-neutral technologies, the Philippine market can look forward to a future where accessible electric mobility is a reality.
