Makati dealership will be run by the distributor
THE pandemic has not slowed down Geely’s blitz into the Philippine market as it quietly adds two more outlets to its rapidly expanding list of dealerships. The latest additions are Geely Davao and the Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP)-owned Geely Makati.
The fast growth of its dealerships came about with the introduction of the Geely Coolray which became a segment bestseller. After that success, SGAP launched the Geely Azkarra, a compact SUV, and the Geely Okavango, a 7-seater mid-size crossover. SGAP’s goal is to be one of the significant players in the Philippine automotive industry, catering to the needs of Filipino car buyers for the long haul.
To achieve that “long haul” objective, meant to set up dealerships to sell and service Geely vehicles nationwide.
Geely Davao, is the fourth in Mindanao, following Zamboanga, Cagayan de Oro and General Santos. Operated by Image G Motors Davao Inc., a long time automotive distributor in the region with several other brands running under its umbrella.
“We are pleased to be part of Geely’s network expansion here in the King City of the South. With how Geely has been greatly performing in the market, I believe that the Davaoeños will be welcoming the brand even more after we have formally opened our doors to them”, Image G Motors Davao Inc. Walter Alvarez said.
“Running a business during this time poses a great challenge. But our collective efforts and the trust of our partners make difficulties easier to handle. I would like to thank Image G Motors Davao Inc. for bringing the Geely brand to the King City of the South”, SGAP President and CEO Mikihisa Takayama shared.
Back to Metro Manila to the newly opened Geely Makati which is the second dealership owned and operated by SGAP, one of the 400 subsidiaries of the Japan-based Sojitz Corporation. Having its own dealerships meant it could set standards by which nationwide dealers can follow, to meet the demands of Filipino buyers.
“It’s a good sign for the business that we are able to open another dealership in Makati under SGAP, following the rise of Geely’s flagship dealership in North Edsa in 2019. This is a welcome development for the business. An indicator that during this time of global struggle, our brand is being well-received by people and that we still manage to survive and thrive,” Takayama said.
Last year, SGAP landed on CAMPI and AVID’s number 10 spot among the top-selling passenger vehicle brands in the Philippines. Meantime, this February 2021, Geely ranked higher and is now holding 9th place in the list.
Makati residents may visit Geely Makati at 2232 Don Chino Roces Avenue (formerly Pasong Tamo) The dealership is open from Monday to Saturday, 8:00AM-7:00PM. Geely Davao, which opened on March 24, 2021, is located at Km 5 JP Laurel Avenue Bajada, Davao City. It is now working in full operation, Monday through Saturday from 8:00AM-5:00PM.
