The 11th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS) is set to take place from October 19 to 21 at the SMX Convention Center Manila in Pasay City.
Organized by the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP), in partnership with the Manila Electric Company (MERALCO), the Department of Energy (DOE), and Nissan Philippines Inc., this year’s summit aims to strengthen and localize electric vehicle (EV) and battery supply chains to promote wider EV adoption.
Under the theme “Plug-In and Accelerate,” the three-day summit will feature a two-day conference on October 19 and 20, focused on policy dialogues and knowledge exchange to support the adoption of EVs through the strengthening and localization of EV and battery supply chains. The conference aims to foster insightful industry discussions and networking opportunities. The subsequent three-day exhibition from October 19 to 21 will showcase the latest EV models, battery and charging technologies, and other innovative products and solutions from both foreign and local players.

The 11th PEVS follows the enactment of Republic Act No. 11697, known as the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA), and the subsequent approval of an Executive Order temporarily removing import duties on completely built-up units of EVs for five years. These developments have provided momentum to the EV industry in the Philippines.
The Department of Energy (DOE) has also released the Comprehensive Roadmap for the Electric Vehicle Industry (CREVI), envisioning a robust domestic EV industry with export potential and a greater push for nationwide EV adoption. Other government agencies, including the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), are actively supporting these efforts.
One of the key highlights of the 11th PEVS is the launch of the Philippine Battery Consortium, which aims to address concerns related to battery supplies and costs. The consortium will explore alternative battery component production using indigenous minerals, with collaboration from industry players and assistance from ASEAN neighbors. This initiative is crucial considering the significant contribution of battery costs to the overall acquisition cost of EVs.
The summit will also feature learning sessions on successful EV supply chain development, electrified ride-hailing, green logistics, e-bus services, e-taxi fleets, safety in EV operations, and battery manufacturing and servicing. The lineup of topics for the plenary and moderated sessions includes discussions on the DOE’s Comprehensive Roadmap for the Electric Vehicle Industry, DTI’s Electric Vehicle Industry Strategy, electric vehicle market analysis in Southeast Asia, exploiting existing capabilities of the auto parts, electronics, and CIT sectors for EV manufacturing, and experiences from international examples such as Shenzhen and Jakarta. Presentations by industry leaders, including Nissan, will also provide insights into EV technology.
Through focused panel discussions, the 11th PEVS aims to explore the potential of the Philippine EV supply chain and leverage the existing capabilities of the local auto parts, electronics, and CIT sectors. The government’s incentives program will also be discussed to encourage further support from both the public and private sectors in accelerating EV adoption in the country.
