Volvo PH recently auctioned off an all-electric C40 Recharge to raise funds for the Bayani Scholars Program of the Fort Bonifacio Development Foundation Inc. (FBDFI).
The proceeds from this auction went to support the education of promising students while also providing much-needed relief to communities affected by Typhoon Kristine.
“At Volvo, we believe education can transform lives and uplift communities,” Maria Fe Perez Agudo, President of Volvo Philippines said saying that the initiative is “an embodiment of Volvo’s commitment to not just sustainable mobility, but to sustainable communities as well.”
The Volvo C40 Recharge was showcased at the Passio FBDFI 2024 Gala Night, where it was later auctioned to the highest bidder. The successful bidder received more than just a car, Agudo said but also became a key contributor to the funding of scholarships and relief efforts.
“Their support will directly benefit both the Bayani Scholars and the communities in need of aid. In recognition of this impactful collaboration, Volvo Philippines expressed its gratitude for the winning bid, acknowledging its role in shaping a more inclusive and sustainable future,” Agudo stated while stressing the company’s belief in the transformative power of education.
“We see Volvo vehicles as more than just transportation—they represent our commitment to a better world,” the Volvo chief added. This philosophy underscores Volvo’s long-term vision to empower individuals, particularly through education, as a foundation for sustainable development.
The educational initiatives supported by this partnership go beyond just scholarships. The Bayani Scholars Program, for example, provides each student with P100,000 annually for up to four years of tertiary education. Additionally, the Adopt-A-Classroom program plays a vital role in improving public school infrastructures in Taguig, raising funds to enhance learning environments for both students and teachers.
Agudo concluded by saying, “Partnering with FBDFI, Volvo is investing in future leaders who will drive sustainable change. Supporting their journey is a privilege that aligns deeply with our values.”
