NISSAN showed off its motorsports DNA with two race-ready vehicles at the 2023 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show held at the Las Vegas Convention Center which concluded on November 2.

One of the highlights of Nissan’s showcase was a decked-out Nissan Rogue, a versatile model overflowing with a dazzling array of accessories. This presentation, however, was just the tip of the iceberg, as Nissan also unveiled two thrilling new performance cars.

Among these thrilling new additions, Nissan’s popular Sentra compact sedan stepped into the spotlight, embracing an adrenaline-fueled transformation with the Sentra DET Concept. This dynamic concept car pays homage to Nissan’s cherished SE-R models and NISMO heritage, exuding the spirit of Nissan’s storied performance legacy. In addition to honoring the brand’s past, the Sentra DET Concept offers Sentra enthusiasts an exhilarating blend of style and dynamic enhancements, delivering a package that caters to the modern-day performance seeker.

The name “DET” is a nod to the concept car’s potent powertrain, with each letter symbolizing Nissan’s iconic performance engines of yesteryears. “DET” translates to “Dual overhead cam, Electronic Fuel Injection, Turbo,” a lineage associated with iconic Nissans like the Silvia/180SX, Pulsar GTI-R, Skyline, and Stagea. Under the hood, the Sentra DET Concept boasts a performance-driven turbocharged MR20DD 2.0-liter engine, cleverly paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. To enhance the engine’s distinct tone, a prototype stainless-steel NISMO B18 performance exhaust has been integrated.

Emphasizing performance even further, the Sentra DET Concept rides on a prototype NISMO coilover suspension, featuring twin-tube shocks and linear-rate springs. Fine-tuning of this setup involved insights from GT4 professional racer Bryan Heitkotter. Additionally, the concept sports 18-inch NISMO LM-RS6 wheels with various finish options, adorning high-performance Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD09 tires. Inside the cabin, Recaro Sportster CS front seats and a NISMO GT shift knob add a sporty and luxurious touch.

Nissan didn’t stop there. At the SEMA show, the automaker also revealed the Frontier Off-Road Race Truck, the result of a collaborative effort between Nissan and Forsberg Racing, a venture led by multi-time Formula Drift champion Chris Forsberg. Designed with the challenges of the NORRA 500 off-road race in mind, this truck is fortified with NISMO Off Road parts and underwent intensive testing. During the recent race, Chris Forsberg and Yokohama teammate Leticia Bufoni competed in the stock production class and secured a resounding first-place victory, underlining the Frontier’s durability and the effectiveness of NISMO Off Road products.

“The racing experience with the Forsberg Frontier Off-Road Race Truck at the NORRA 500 was exhilarating. Nissan and the Forsberg Racing team have created a true beast of a machine,” Forsberg remarked.

Chris Forsberg himself made an appearance at Nissan’s SEMA booth for media interviews, photo opportunities, and autograph sessions, adding to the excitement generated by Nissan’s captivating display at the show.
