Isuzu Motors Limited Japan (IML), TESDA, and World Vision celebrated the graduation of 18 scholars from the Isuzu Heart and Smile Project (IHSP) in Tacloban, Leyte. These graduates completed a demanding two-year Automotive Servicing Course at the Isuzu-TESDA Auto Mechanic Training Center, earning NC IV certification. Since 2008, the IHSP has focused on empowering underprivileged youth through education, equipping them with valuable automotive skills for promising careers.
With the addition of these graduates, the IHSP has now helped 421 scholars, many of whom have found employment in various sectors of the automotive industry. Graduates are working both locally and internationally, with some even establishing their own businesses. Edmar Garcia, a graduate of Batch 22, shared his experience: “This project has pushed us to take a leap of faith. Before joining the school, many of us didn’t have the means to pursue higher education. Thanks to the generous investment of our project partners—IML, World Vision, and TESDA—we now have the skills and opportunities to achieve our dreams.”
Isuzu Philippines Corp. President Tetsuya Fujita expressed pride in the program’s impact and also welcomed a new batch of 18 scholars who will begin their own two-year journey in automotive servicing.
