Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC), through its dealership Isuzu Cebu, has officially handed over 22 brand-new Isuzu Traviz L units with Utility Van bodies to the City of Talisay, Cebu. This significant event, aimed at enhancing the local emergency response capabilities, took place during Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas Jr.’s State of the City Address (SOCA). The turnover ceremony underscored a strong commitment to public safety and disaster preparedness.

The ceremony was attended by Vice Mayor Hon. Richard Choy Fernandez Aznar, members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, the 22 Punong Barangays along with their respective councils, department heads from Talisay City, representatives from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO), national government agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and various People’s and Civil Society Organizations.

A formal blessing of the 22 new emergency vehicles was part of the ceremony, with each vehicle assigned to a different barangay. These units are set to play a vital role in the city’s “Aksyon Agad Rescue Program,” which aims to enhance the rapid response capacity of Community First Responders (CFR). The Isuzu Traviz units will enable CFRs to serve as the first point of contact in emergencies, reporting directly to the City Disaster Team and providing swift assistance to those in need.

The Isuzu Traviz L is equipped with a robust and fuel-efficient 4JA1 engine, known for its durability and reliability, making it a preferred choice for local government units (LGUs) across the country. The utility van, with a gross payload capacity of 1,660 kilograms, offers ample space and capability for emergency equipment and personnel.

“The Isuzu Traviz is widely chosen for its high payload capacity, dependable engine, and the strong aftersales support we offer. We are proud to be part of Talisay City’s initiatives to enhance public safety and emergency response,” Robert Carlos, IPC Assistant Division Head for Sales, highlighted the vehicle’s popularity among LGUs said.

The City of Talisay’s investment in these vehicles reflects its proactive approach to disaster risk reduction and management. By providing each barangay with its own emergency vehicle, the city aims to ensure that all communities have the necessary resources to respond effectively to crises, ranging from medical emergencies to natural disasters.
